SHILLONG: Former JHADC chief and Amwi-Khliehtyrshi MDC, MB Rymbai is set to take over as the new JHADC chief.
The development comes after the Executive Committee led by Moonlight Pariat of the UDP was reduced to a minority.
Curiously, NPP and Congress who are arch rivals at the state level, have come together to form the new Executive Committee.
“This is the order from the high level functionaries and the Congress is ready to work with us (NPP) though the Congress leader Mukul Sangma is not happy with the development”, one of the rebel MDCs said.
Rymbai from NPP secured the support of 22 MDCs and the UDP has the strength of only seven members and the lone BJP member, Marki Mulieh. All the 22 members have signed an agreement to work together under the leadership of Rymbai.
Some MDCs, who are in an undisclosed location, informed that all the MDCs were united except Phasmoon Dkhar from Wapungskur, who was not present as he is unwell, though he had signed the papers.
MDCs of Wahiajer and Ummulong, Laitsingh Shylla and Hermon Phawa, who left Congress and joined UDP, have turned to NPP though they had not supported either NPP legislators Sniawbhalang Dhar or his brother in-law, Wailadmiki Shylla.
All the 22 MDCs, who are signatories of the letter, have vowed to oust Pariat and demanded a special session for the trial of strength and for election of the new CEM.
