TURA: Organisations from East Garo Hills (EGH)  including the GSU, ADE, FAF, AYWO and others which had begun a two-day picketing of the offices of the DMHO in Williamnagar on Tuesday, called off their agitation on Wednesday after assurance was given by the deputy commissioner to look into their demands.

The organisations had called for a picketing of the offices under the DMHO demanding the transfer of a lady doctor posted at Bansamgre PHC who they alleged of negligence and non attendance to her duty.

On Tuesday evening, leaders of the said organizations met the deputy commissioner in his chamber where they were assured that the matter would be looked into and the doctor in question transferred.

“We have called off our agitation today as we were assured by the DC that the official would be transferred, during our meeting yesterday. We hope that the deputy commissioner keeps his assurance for the general good of the people who come to the PHC,” the organisations said.
