SHILLONG: Police are yet to get any reply from the service providers of social media despite several reminders.
The government had blocked mobile internet due to the misuse of social media, only to restore it on Tuesday.
SP (City) S.A Rynjah said that several reminders were sent to the service providers to share the information on people who have been misusing the information platform. “We are waiting for the reply”, he said.
According to the police, efforts are on to arrest those creating unrest by posting malicious messages.
The SP (City) said the moderators and administrators of social media pages like Whatsapp, Facebook and Youtube should have a system in place to filter posts before they are uploaded in the social media which creates confusion and fear in the minds of the people.
Police also said in case such posts come to the notice of the moderators or administrators of the various social media groups, then the same should be informed to the police by the quickest means possible for immediate and necessary action.
