GUWAHATI: Participating in the celebration of 4th International Yoga Day at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar on Thursday morning, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein called for introduction of Yoga in the schools across the State.
Mein while pressing for practice and promotion of Yoga by the every individual also advocated for imparting one month Yoga course to the Physical Training (PT) teachers of government schools so that they became Master Trainer and teach yoga in their respective schools after completion of the course.
He said that the PT teachers should further motivate and teach the school children about the importance of Yoga and how yoga practice would benefit them physically and mentally to generate interest amongst the students for yoga. He also suggested that the private and residential schools should also be instructed to teach yoga to the boarders in the hostels.
He also lauded and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting the Yoga in the world forum and impressing upon the United Nation General Assembly to adopt and declare June 21 as the International Yoga Day.
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Alo Libang in his speech said that Yoga is good for a healthy, spiritual and mental wellbeing and called to practice yoga regularly to improve coordination between the body, mind and soul. He said Yoga is for unification and mental peace.
State BJP President, Tapir Gao and MLAs Tamar Murtem & Kento Rina among others also participated in the yoga session.
People from all walks of life including Govt employees, personnel from ITBP, CRPF, NCC, school children and public participated in huge numbers in the yoga session at IG Park that was organised by the Department of Health & Family Welfare to mark the 4th International Yoga Day 2018.
