Himanta Bishwa files Rs 100 cr defamation suit against ABP News

GUWAHATI: Senior BJP leader in Assam and the state’s finance, health etc. minister Dr Himanta Bishwa Sarma today filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against the ABP News before the court of Civil Judge, Senior Division, Kamrup District here in connection with a recent news report telecast by the TV channel linking the minister’s name to a power broker in New Delhi, Anju Poddar that has  reportedly prompted the PMO  sake the Enforcement Directorate to hold an inquiry to check the veracity of the news.

“I am outraged by a @abpnewstv News report linking me to a person whom I have never met or known in my life. @abpnewstv news report has defamed me in public light. I have filed a Rs 100 cr defamation suit against ABP News before the Civil Judge, Sr Division, Kamrup District, Guwahati,” the minister says in his twitter handle on Thursday night.
