New Delhi, June 21 (IANS) Celebrity trainer Anshuka Parwani, who has worked with Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Malaika Arora, says that it is important to educate people on the advantages of yoga considering the hectic schedule and demanding lifestyle.

“I have been a yoga teacher for years and believe that Indians are now becoming more aware about yoga and its benefits. Considering our hectic schedule and demanding lifestyle, many people in the world are opting for yoga to experience peace of mind, not just externally but also internally,” Parwani told IANS in an e-mail interview.

Tata Sky Fitness is celebrating International Yoga Day with a 48 Hour Yoga Marathon (Yogathon) with yoga teachers like Ira Trivedi, Sunaina Rekhi, Yamini Muthana, Deepika Mehta, international yoga teachers Daniel Collin and Charlie Sales along with Parwani.

She feels that Yogathon is a great initiative by Tata Sky as it is important to educate people about the advantages of yoga, especially people who are not that aware of the International Yoga Day or do not practice yoga.

“It will help people to practice and experience different types of yoga postures from popular Indian and International trainers by just sitting at home. I believe it is one of the best ways to encourage fitness and have more and more people practicing it.”

She also feels that people are more inclined to join a yoga class rather than joining a gym.

“Our lives are so full of stress, even the pollution around us takes a toll on our health, and people have started to realize the importance of yoga to combat this. Yoga not just helps you to look fit from the outside, but it also strengthens your core. So, I see a lot of people taking the leap to go to a yoga class, or signing up with a yoga studio rather than going to the gym,” she said.
