Lumparing school celebrates Thomas Jones Day

SHILLONG: Thomas Jones Memorial School on Friday organised a programme centered on discussions related to various topics such as handicraft, traditional food, herbal medicine and environmental issues in commemoration of Thomas Jones Day.
The school also inaugurated its Silver Jubilee celebrations.  
The programme was chaired by the school’s principal T Kharkongor and was attended by more than 150 participants comprising parents, community leaders and special invitees including teacher and student representatives from Seng Khasi UP School, Nepali UP School, and Presbyterian UP School.
Rev OL Snaitang from the Church of God inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebrations with a special prayer emphasizing on the contributions of Thomas Jones.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Helen Giri of La-Riti, traditional medicine practitioner Edison Lyngdoh Mawphlang, Pius Ranee of NESFAS and Elder S Khongsit who is known for his radio broadcast Tip phi ia tip mo.
