SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) South Khasi Hills District unit, Sohra registered their protest  against the intention of the Border Security Force (BSF) for setting up its Headquarter in Sohra.

In this connection, the union has petitioned the CEM of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), PN Syiem and the chief (Syiem) of Hima Sohra, Freeman Sing Syiem not to issue No Objection Certificate (NoC) to the BSF for the purpose.

The petition stated that the BSF intended to set up headquarter in the lands falling along the Shillong-Sohra road which is over 70-100 acres. The union stated that the land falls under the jurisdiction of the Syiem of Hima Sohra.

The union reiterated that Freeman had once assured them that he would not give away land to the BSF. The union urged him to remain steadfast in his assurance.

Again, the union also appealed to the CEM of KHADC, PN Syiem to not issue any NoC to the BSF for setting up the headquarter.
