SHILLONG: To strengthen the demand for creation of the Mawsynram civil sub-division, a committee named Mawsynram Civil Sub-Division Demand Committee, headed by Congress MLA H.M Shangpliang, was constituted at a meeting on Saturday.
The meeting was held to discuss the demand for upgradation of Mawsynram Community and Rural Development Block into a civil sub-division. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shangpliang said there has been a demand for a civil sub-division for the last 20 years and the committee will follow up on the demand.
According to the MLA, the state government should not create a civil sub-division only for political gains but should do so as per the requirements of the public. He urged the PDF MDC of Mawsynram, P.N Syiem, to bury the political differences and join forces for the civil sub-division demand.
