SHILLONG: In a shocking incident, a man in Tura has allegedly impregnated his 12-year-old daughter.
According to police sources, the matter came to light after the girl complained of stomach pains and was taken to Tura civil hospital by her mother.
Doctors who examined her immediately informed the local police in Tura.
Police said the case was reported very late and the accused had managed to flee.
Meanwhile in another incident reported from Phulbari, an 8-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old. The accused is absconding.
The incident allegedly took place on Saturday when the juvenile took the minor girl from her house and abused her at his house.
The girl is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Garo Hills. Police said they have obtained clues and were hopeful of arresting him soon.
