MLA’s brother attacked, looted in city

SHILLONG: In a daring attack, Rishan Rapsang, the brother of West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang, was robbed and injured by an assailant inside his residential premises at Jaiaw Langsning on Wednesday night.
SP (City) Stephan Rynjah on Thursday told media persons that the incident happened at around 7.30 pm when Rishan Rapsang entered his residence from his office.
CCTV footage showed the masked assailant hitting Rishan after which he fell down unconscious. The miscreant fled away from the scene after snatching his bag.
The exact amount of the money looted was not known. Police is analysing the CCTV footage to identify the assailant who was inside the compound waiting for his victim.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), West Shillong Block Congress Committee, Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress and the Seng Samla Jaiaw Langsning have condemned the attack on Rishan Rapsang.
Family members of Rapsang said he is out of danger.
