Disabilities Association meets Social Welfare Minister

SHILLONG: The Khasi Disabilities Association (KDA) raised their grievances to the Minister of Social Welfare, Kyrmen Shylla on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, president of KDA, Starwin Kharjana said that the minister was informed that the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 have not yet been fully implemented in the state.
 He urged the state government to fully implement 4 per cent of the reservation policy for persons with disabilities.
The association also requested the government to increase the unemployment allowance for those disabled persons who have cleared the 10th standard onwards from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000.
Kharjana further added that the government should recognise the persons with disabilities through the disability certificate of the District Medical Board. The minister assured help and promised that he will meet the concerned department to look into the issues concerning them.
