Poor road infra in Jirang: MLA

SHILLONG: NPP MLA from Jirang, Sosthenes Sohtun said the constituency is marred with poor road infrastructure even as he pointed out Mawdem, an old village in the constituency does not have road connectivity.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “Mawdem village is home to a 150-year- old Presbyterian Church but there is no road connectivity there.”
He added there are other villages in Jirang constituency which are facing deplorable road conditions along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
As for the development of border roads, Sohtun said he will find out the process for the tender called for road construction.
He added that the constituency lacks in many developmental works and expressed confidence in the NPP led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) which he observed pays attention to the needs of the people.
