Teachers submit memo to SBI official

TURA: The AGHSSASTA, a teachers’ body in Garo Hills has submitted a memorandum to the authorities of the SBI Chandmari Branch in Tura regarding deductions being made by the bank from schools’ current A/C of most SSA Schools.

According to the teachers, deductions are being made from MDM funds, school maintenance grant, teaching learning materials fund, cook salaries and even teachers’ salaries from joint current accounts as account keeping charges.

The teachers requested the general manager to direct branch managers not to make deductions from schools’ joint current accounts or that it is changed to joint savings bank account. The teachers have also sought the government’s intervention in the matter.
