SHILLONG: Meghalaya Mahila Congress Committee on Saturday launched Shakti project in Meghalaya.
Shakti is a mobile phone-based pilot project which has been launched in different parts of the country by Congress with an aim to establish a direct link between its workers and supporters with the party’s central leadership.
The project is aimed at knowing the Congress workers, their ideas and views and in gathering feedback directly from the grassroots level, adding it will enable dialogue between women workers, from booth level onwards, and senior leadership.
The committee president, Joplin S Shylla, said that under this project, many women workers are being enrolled and this is a medium to get in touch with the leadership. She said that with this system, the Central leadership including party president Rahul Gandhi may call up any of the registered workers to find out what is going on in the party in their respective states.
Shylla also informed that many Congress workers including the newly enrolled and old ones have been registered with the programme.
