Cops detain suspects in Rapsang looting case

SHIILLONG: Police have detained and questioned some people who are suspected be involved in the case where Rishan Rapsang, brother of West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang, was robbed and injured by an assailant inside his residential premises at Jaiaw Langsning.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Davis Marak said police have obtained leads from sources and are working on them.
Marak declined to comment on whether there was any political angle to the crime, saying that everything will be only after the investigation is completed.
The district police chief, quoting the victim, said the bag which was looted contained Rs 9 lakh.
CCTV footage showed the masked assailant hitting Rapsang after which he fell down unconscious. The miscreant fled from the scene after snatching his bag.
