HYC to lead sit-in stir demanding Mawsynram sub-division

SHILLONG: A social activist, Banshai Marbaniang and the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) will hold a sit-in demonstration here on Thursday to press for their demand on Mawsynram Civil Sub-Division and to protest the state government’s apathy toward improving the deplorable condition of Mawphlang-Balat Road.

In a statement issued here, Marbaniang said that tourist facilities in the area also needed be improved to create employment avenues for the locals.

He claimed that Mawsynram Block which is one of oldest Blocks in the state was created in1958 by then Assam Government. He asserted people of Mawsynram Block had been abandoned by the State Government due to political reasons.

The sit-in demonstration will be held at the Parking Lot adjacent to the Additional Secretariat of Meghalaya starting from 10 AM and end up to 6 PM.
