Envoy urges investors to explore Nepal’s tourism sector

GUWAHATI:  Nepal has invited Indian companies to explore “ready-to-tap” opportunities for investment in the tourism sector of the Himalayan country.

Speaking at a seminar titled, “Tourism in Nepal”, here on Thursday, Bharat Kumar Regmi, Charge d’ Affaires, Embassy of Nepal said, “There are ample and ready-to-tap opportunities for investment and cooperation for the Indian companies in the tourism sector of Nepal. So I invite Indian companies to invest in the country and reap rich dividends.”

Regmi said the year 2018 was a new beginning for Nepal with the conclusion of three tiers of elections paving the way for political stability and good governance.

The Embassy of Nepal in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organised the seminar which brought together prospective Indian investors and senior officials of the embassy.

Highlighting the government’s policy of attracting foreign investments, the diplomat called upon Indian companies and entrepreneurs to utilise opportunities for investing in Nepal by taking advantage of the country’s favourable industrial and investment policies.

Umakant Acharya, Counsellor- Fiscal, Embassy of Nepal, made a detailed presentation on the tourism sector of Nepal, highlighting  opportunities and benefits of developing mutual packages for tourists from both countries.

Kausar J. Hilaly, managing director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation, highlighted the importance of India-Nepal relationship, saying economic cooperation can bring the people of the two countries closer.
