NRL donates waste-handling equipment to GMC

GUWAHATI: In a novel initiative towards making the city clean, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has donated waste handling equipment and vehicles worth Rs 2.2crore to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

The equipment includes a truck mounted garbage compactor, GPS-fitted rickshaw, tricycle carts, mini skid steer loader and four-wheeler auto tipper.

In a press statement issued here, the company said the initiative under its flagship CSR scheme, ‘Parichannata’, was part of the state-wide Swachhata Pakhwada fortnight that began on July 1.

NRL officials handed over the keys for the vehicles to the Mayor of Guwahati, Mrigen Sarania in the presence of GMC commissioner, Monalisa Goswami at the GMC office here on Wednesday.

The company has extended similar support to municipal Corporations/town committees in Nagaon ,Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Dergaon, Golaghat , Bokakhat and Kaliabor.
