SHILLONG: The UDP central leadership is not aware of any plan to get Congress support for the Ranikor by-poll.
Senior working president of UDP Bindo Lanong said the party candidate, Pius Marwein, will contest the seat and there was no information regarding Congress support to UDP.
He said UDP’s plan to contest the by-poll will not have any negative impact on the MDA coalition.
Similarly, the UDP leader and Cabinet Minister Metbah Lyngdoh asserted that the party will put up a candidate on its own and there was no discussion held to seek support from other political parties.
Lyngdoh said he was not aware of UDP approaching the Congress for its support for the  by-poll. “We will meet after July 15 to discuss matters related to the Ranikor by-poll,” Lyngdoh said.
