SHILLONG: With an aim to support financially disadvantaged students who have excelled in academics, the We Care Foundation has informed that it will provide sponsorship to three students in any stream for class XI and XII provided that the student has scored an overall minimum of 85 per cent in the 2018 SSLC examinations.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, We Care Foundation secretary David Kharsati said, “The eligible candidates should submit proof of their parents BPL card as the sponsorship will be for all semesters including admission fees including a monthly scholarship of Rs 3000.”
He informed that the foundation had already provided assistance to a student who topped the SSLC examinations and is now pursuing her B.Com at St. Anthony’s College.
A BPL card is a must as he said that the foundation does not want to be partial to anybody.
He added that the screening committee of the trust is the highest authority to finalise the eligibility of a candidate.
The trust will also award Rs10000 to each of the top five students who completed their SSLC examinations this year who come from economically weak backgrounds.
Eligible candidate may contact the We Care Foundation on or before July 20. The selection results will be declared on August 1 and the felicitation and declaration programme will be held on September 1.
