JOWAI: A Congress member of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) resigned from the party on Thursday saying that he was supporting the NPP-led executive committee.
Phasmoon Dkhar, the MDC from Musniang Rangad in East Jaintia Hills, handed over the resignation letter to the East Jaintia Hills District Congress Committee in Khliehriat.
Dkhar is also the secretary of the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress Committee. According to him, he left the Congress as he is a supporter of the newly formed executive committee led by MB Rymbai of the NPP in JHADC.
“I feel awkward to put on the Congress uniform while supporting the NPP-led executive committee and therefore I decided to tender my resignation,” Dkhar told The Shillong Times over phone.
