Ri Bhoi Dorbar supports civil sub-division demand

NONGPOH: In a bid to revive and strengthen the Ri Bhoi Dorbar, one of the oldest organisations of the district, a meeting of various prominent leaders was held here on Thursday.
The meeting was held with an objective to strengthen the Dorbar in fulfilling the pending developmental issues in the district.
The discussion focused on the issue of demanding civil sub-divisions at Umroi-Bhoirymbong and Mawhati-Sonidan for better administration in addition to the pending demand for the upgradation of Patharkhmah administrative unit into a civil sub-division.
The meeting was attended by former chief minister D.D Lapang, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem, Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and KHADC MDCs from Nongpoh, Mawhati and Umsning, in addition to Ri-Bhoi Dorbar secretary R.B Shadap, Raid representatives and leaders of the Ri-Bhoi Dorbar.
The meeting was presided over by Ri-Bhoi Dorbar president RK Kynsai Makdoh who informed that the meeting had unanimously resolved to lend their full support for creation of the Patharkhmah civil sub-division.
He further stated that the Patharkhmah administrative unit has been functioning for over 23 years since its inception and it was time for an upgrade to cater to the demands of the huge population and the large number of villages.
