Shangpliang, CM discuss tourism in Mawsynram

SHILLONG: Mawsynram MLA H.M Shangpliang held a discussion with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on development of tourism and upgradation of the road in Mawsynram.
Shangpliang was informed by the CM that the Mawsynram road has been included in the PWD schemes. As for tourism development, Sangma informed that government assistance would be given to Mawsynram. “We told him that there are fossils that are millions of years old. The Archeological Survey of India has also found dinosaur fossils. Conrad Sangma said the fossils need to be preserved to attract more tourists,” said Shangpliang.
Meanwhile, social activist Bashai Marbaniang also spoke about the upgradation of the Mawphlang-Balat road. “The road condition gets worse during the rainy season. The state government should do something immediate about it,” he said.
As for tourism development, he said the development of the tourism industry would provide employment for the local youth.
