SHILLONG: The youth wing of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) petitioned the state Chief Election Officer (CEO) to register their protest against the enrolment of new voters from the Harijan Colony as part of the special summary revision.

The president of the youth wing of the regional political party, Thomas Passah said the party was informed that the Election Department have instructed the Booth Level Officer (BLOs) to visit the Harijan Colony

Pointing to the present situation in the state, the KHNAM said the letter was also addressed to Rangbah Shnong (headman) of Harijan Colony, which they observed, is highly questionable.

Rangbah Shnong should be from amongst the indigenous citizen of the state and he should be in possession of sanat (appointment letter) from the Hima of Syiem Mylliem.

KHNAM met the Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of High Level Committee, Prestone Tynsong and apprised him on the matter on Monday.
