GUWAHATI:In a major setback to NSCN(U), Manbai Wangsu, self-styled private was apprehended in the early hours of July 9 18 by the Longding battalion of Assam Rifles operating against insurgents in South Arunachal Pradesh.
Based on a specific input of a cadre trying to terrorise and extort money from Zedua village, Longding, the battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the cadre. During interrogation the cadre admitted to being part of the banned outfit and has been actively involved in extortion activities in Longding district.
He further admitted to have joined NSCN (IM) in September 2016 and underwent weapons training at Dimapur from September to November 2016. The cadre subsequently defected to NSCN(U) and has been part of the group since then.
