Family planning, child marriage in focus

NONGPOH: The deputy commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah, has stressed the need for parents to teach children about family planning even as she said the minimum age for a girl to get married is 18.
Addressing a gathering at a programme on the inauguration of World Population Stabilization Fortnight and Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight, Kurbah said parents must ensure about the health and safety of their children and family and they must have the responsibility on how to develop their wards for better livelihood.
Talking about early marriage, Kurbah said parents must help children understand about the problems created by child marriage.
Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and village workers are among those who participated in the programme launched by the District Medical and Health Officer.
