SHILLONG: With Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition partners, UDP and PDF likely to field candidates in the upcoming Ranikor by-election, NPP MLA and Cabinet Minister Prestone Tynsong has maintained that contesting in the election will not strain the political relationship within the MDA.
“There is no question of strain in the MDA government. During election, we can compete against each other. There is no problem in that. We will make sure that the MDA lasts till its full term and we will perform well,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Exuding confidence on the party’s victory in the Ranikor and South Tura bye-elections, Tynsong said that the party is ready to face the elections whenever the Election Commission notifies the date.
“We are ready. We are already confident of getting both the seats Ranikor and South Tura. We will retain South Tura seat. The party will have to fight very effectively,” he said.
He informed that Danggo will soon join the NPP as his forefront party leaders and supporters have already joined the party.
