SHILLONG: Superintendent of Police SA Rynjah said on Wednesday a Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the petrol bomb attack on the MPSC office on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Rynjah said the SIT will be headed by him along with a gazetted police officer who will handle the investigation.
“Assessment of CCTV footage from one of the locations showing some activity is being looked into. (We) will use enhancers (as the CCTV is located quite far) to get the identity of the persons concern,” he said and added that the CCTV captured the miscreants from the back. Rynjah said police are looking into every angle and did not rule out the handiwork of disgruntled candidates.
Stating that it is planned, he said, “Miscreants must have watched that the chowkidar opens the office around 7.30-8 am or that somebody from inside must have passed on information to the miscreants.”
With MPSC being hit with fake results being circulated on social media in May, Rynjah said that angle would also be explored. Eye-witnesses are being examined. CSWO has condemned the attack and demanded CCTV cameras in all government offices.
