WJH police arrest two more in NDPS case

SHILLONG: Two persons were arrested on Friday as a follow up to the recent NDPS case in Jowai where eight persons including the kingpin S. Siangjathang Zou was arrested for drug trafficking where 67,000 WY methamphetamine tablets were seized by the Anti Narcotic Task Force in West Jaintia Hills recently.
West Jaintia Hills SP Vivek Syiem said the arrested persons have been identified as Shah Alam Majumdar and Gulab Wajid, both residents of Natun Ramnagar Part IV Dakshin Silchar, Cachar who are part of the trafficking chain.
Majumdar is the Ward Commissioner of ward number 6 and vice president of all ward commissioners’ body in Silchar.
The SP informed that the duo had come to Jowai to help the eight arrested persons secure bail.
“The drug supply chain has been disrupted following the arrest of the eight persons who procured methamphetamines and heroin from Myanmar and supply it in bulk to vendors like them. The two vendors then distribute the narcotics to middle level suppliers,” Syiem said.
One Wagon R without registration plate and documents were seized from them. They will be produced before the Special Judge (NDPS) West Jaintia Hills on Saturday for police remand for further investigation.
