Shillong traffic police realise over Rs 16 lakh fine in June 2018

SHILLONG: Shillong Traffic police have realised fine of more than Rupees 16  lakhs for various traffic violations  in the city in a month alone.

The SP (Traffic) BJ Laloo said that an  amount of Rs sixteen lakhs sixty six thousand seven hundred and fifty was realized as fine by the Shillong Traffic Police during the month of June, 2018 as compared to  Rs fifteen lakhs ninety six thousand seven hundred and fifty realised  during the month of May, 2018 from the violators committing offences under provisions of the MV Act.

He informed that 580 violators were fined for wrong parking, while 208 were fined for No Entry violators,

Similarly, 342 were fined for driving without seatbelt,   while 11 were impounded  for driving under the influence of alcohol (Drunken Driving).

In addition, 288 violators  were also fined for driving without driving License,   while 13 were fined for Permit violation. Forty seven were also fined  for driving without Helmet in addition to the other offences under the MV Act.
