CM in Delhi to meet edu officials on SSA salary

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA School Association Central president Aristotle C Rymbai on Friday said he spoke to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma who is currently in New Delhi to meet the officials of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) for the release of funds and other issues related to SSA teachers.
The chief minister is also expected to meet the officials of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to address the problems of the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17.
The chief minister informed Rymbai that the state is trying to get the funds released by the Centre in the next few weeks.
The association on July 6 had called on Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to discuss issues regarding allocation of funds from state budget for payment of SSA teachers’ pending dues and the problem related to D.El.Ed.
The association president in his statement issued here on Friday said it had submitted the representation to the state government on June 15 on these issues.
Rymbui had informed the association that the delay by the state in releasing the salary of SSA teachers is due to non- release of adhoc installment by the MHRD.
Rymbui also informed the association that the education department had sent a proposal to the state finance department for allocation of funds from state budget and it is under process.
The minister informed that he wrote to the chief minister for allocation of funds for payment of SSA teachers’ arrear and salary for financial year 2016-17 at the earliest as it has been pending for almost 2 years.
