Sports Minister returns from Russia with ideas for Ntl Games

SHILLONG: Having visited Russia to watch the FIFA World Cup, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh came back to the state with ideas regarding the National Games to be held in 2022.
“The way the FIFA World Cup was organized was fantastic. The people were also hospitable,” he said recalling the detailed preparation of stadiums, buses and accommodation.
Passionate about football, he said he had gone to watch the World Cup back in 2010 but missed the 2014 edition due to the MDC election.
“I have noticed it and have come up with some ideas on how to organize the National Games in 2022. Together with the Chief Minister we have also met some FIFA officials and discussed about the National Games with them,” Lyngdoh said.
He also stated that the youth’s knowledge in English will be an added advantage during the National Games.
As for the National Games preparation, Lyngdoh said that renovation of existing stadiums will be done.
