SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA) will nominate UDP MDC, Teinwell Dkhar for the post of Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) while the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) will have a meeting on Monday morning to decide on the alliance’s candidate.

The filing of nomination for the post of Chairman KHADC will be on Monday while the Governor has fixed the special session for election of the Chairman on July 24.

When contacted, KHADC CEM, HS Shylla said the KHDA would nominate Dkhar to the post of Chairman of the KHADC. Dkhar, an MDC from Shella constituency is the Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of the UDP in the KHADC.

Meanwhile, PP leader of People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and leader of the opposition alliance, PDA, James Ban Basaiawmoit said, “We will be meeting on Monday morning to decide the matter. We have received the nomination papers and will decide whom to send it.”

However, he was cautious as he said that discussion with the PDA coalition MDCs would be made as the matter was pending with the Court. “We will have to consult with the legal advisors,” Basaiawmoit said.

It may be mentioned that PDF has the support of Congress MDCs.
