Meghalaya bans import of fishes for 15 days

SHILLONG : Harmful formalin has been found in two out of 19 samples of imported fishes in Meghalaya. This has prompted the authorities here to impose a 15 days ban on  import of fishes to the state with immediate effect.

Noncompliance of this order will attract imprisonment up to seven years and fine up to Rs ten lakh under relevant section  of the  Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
