State Education Policy in final stage: Rymbui

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Education Policy is in the final stage of preparation, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said.
“The Education Policy is in the final stage. A meeting will be held following which the policy document will be submitted to the government,” Rymbui said on Sunday.
Earlier, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had set a deadline of 45 days from May 16 for the task force dealing with the draft education policy to complete its work before the cabinet finally comes up with the policy.
The task force had held several meetings.
New pay to teachers
The extension of the Fifth Pay Commission facilities for deficit teachers in the state is being processed.
Rymbui said the disbursal of pay is being processed by the education department.
The state government had approved the extension of facilities proposed by the fifth pay commission to all the deficit school and college teachers.
Fresh recruitment
On the issue of fresh recruitment of teachers following the education scam, Rymbui said as part of fresh recruitment, preparation for holding Meghalaya Teachers’ Eligibility Test is also on and advertisement will be notified when the department completes the process.
