SHILLONG: After the three PDF MDCs, Latiplang Kharkongor, James Sylliang and Blandingstar Warjri failed to reply to the show-cause notices issued to them, the disciplinary committee of the party handed over the matter to the central executive committee (CEC) which will decide on whether to suspend or expel them from the party.
The rebel MDCs had supported the rival group led by HS Shylla.
PDF general secretary Auspicious Lyngdoh told reporters that the three MDCs – Latiplang, Blandingstar and James also rejected the call for talks.
Allegations of anti-party activities were charged against the three after they extended support to KHDA led by NPP MDC Shylla.
Justifying the show cause notice, Lyngdoh said that the MDCs failed to support the PDF candidate in the recently held elections to the post of CEM and Deputy Chairman.
Lyngdoh also added that he failed to understand the reason for the MDCs to rebel against the party.
‘No clearance given’
Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) James Ban Basaiawmoit on Monday said the party did not issue any clearance to the three rebel MDCs to support the KHDA.
“The friends who still claim to be PDF MDCs rebelled against the party by supporting another alliance without getting a direction from the party,” Basaiawmoit told reporters adding that Latiplang is still the secretary of PDA.
Basaiawmoit claimed that Latiplang was irked at not being elected as the PP leader of the PDF when the party decided to change the PP leader in the KHADC.
“Only because he was not elected as the PP leader, in less than an hour he jumped to the other camp led by Shylla,” he said.
