Electricity Commission assures quality service in Jaintia Hills

JOWAI: The Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC), Shillong assured quality service in Jaintia Hills districts.
In a one-day awareness programme on Consumer Grievances organised by the MSERC at District Library Auditorium, Mynthong in Jowai on Monday, the chairman promised to provide quality service and to look after the grievances of residents.
The awareness programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, R. Rapthap in the presence of the Chairman, MSERC, Shillong and former DC L. Kharkongor who is presently the Chairperson of Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum, Shillong.
The objective of the programme was to enlighten and get feedback in regards to various grievances faced by consumers on power related issues.
MSERC, Chairman and former Chief Secretary, W.M.S. Pariat briefed on the Electricity Act 2003, which covers major issues involving generation, distribution, transmission and trading in power.
The Commission also received inputs from the citizens and helped settle grievances. He enlightened and invited the cooperation of the consumers with regards to regular payment of bill which will enable the Department to provide quality services.
The chairman reminded the consumers to collect the complaint registration number once a complaint is filed and if not satisfied with the service provided by the MePDCL to approach the MSERC in Shillong.
During the interactive session the village leaders put forward the problems they face such as irregularity of power supply, irregular billing and lack of timely maintenance of the supply line, the problems of the consumers were discussed and helped was assured.
