Police earn public admiration for nabbing drug peddlers

NONGSTOIN: The Dorbar Shnong of Mawiong Lumsyntiew, the Village Defence Party (VDP), the Seng Longkmie and the Seng Samla Shnong lauded the West Khasi Hills Police for the recent arrest of drugs peddlers and its ring leader.
They demanded stringent action against the drug peddlers and asked the authority not to grant bail to them at least for a year.
The headman of Mawiong Lumsyntiew said that drug trafficking was increasing day by day which has put the society into dangers and many youths were misled.
He informed that the police have arrested more youths from Nongstoin area who were involved in supplying drugs.
Jeffrey Lyngdoh, a resident of Mawiong Lumsyntiew, who was one of the ring leaders based in Nongstoin, was arrested last week and his arrest is seen as a great achievement, the headman said.
“Lyngdoh was one of the most wanted drug users. We used to advice him to stop this illegal activity but to no avail.”
The headman further urged the higher authority to punish him with a tough jail term.
