SHILLONG: Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a proposal of the C&RD department for the Meghalaya Community Rural Development Services and Meghalaya Community Rural Engineering Services.
Prestone Tynsong after the meeting told reporters that the proposal had been there for a long time but earlier governments did not dared to take the decision but the present Government had taken a decision on the matter despite the fact that the decision would have huge financial implications.
With this decision, the C&RD department will have their own service and staff cadre right from the level of gram sevak, junior engineers, Assistant Engineers and BDOs. As on date, officers working at any level in the department be it junior engineers, Assistant Engineers and BDOs were taken by the department on deputation from other departments.
He also said that the Meghalaya Community Rural Engineering Services would have officers till the level of Superintending Engineer.
