JHADC MDCs to get over Rs 1 lakh salary

JOWAI: The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) in its summer session on Friday has unanimously passed four bills to hike salaries of the Executive Members including the Chairman, the CEM and Deputy CEM, the  MDCs and also the bill to hike pension of former MDCs.
The bills passed were amendment bills of the MDCs salaries, salary of EC members, pension schemes for former MDCs and also the amendment of the District Council Constitution.
According to the bill, the fixed salary of the elected members is Rs. 50000 and including various allowances, it will come to Rs. 1.10 lakh
While the salary of the CEM was hiked to Rs 54000, it will come to Rs 1. 54 lakh per month along with various allowances including house rent, medical allowance and others, The opposition leader will enjoy a salary of Rs. 50000 and with various allowances being added, it will come to Rs 1.39 lakh per month.
The Chairman’s fixed salary is Rs. 53,000 and with allowances, it will be Rs 1.57 lakh and the Deputy CEM’s salary is the same as that of the chairman.
The Budget Session held on Friday had two sittings where all four bills were introduced in the first sitting and the same was unanimously passed in the second sitting after formal discussion.
