Ranikor BJP leaders to support UDP candidate

TURA/SHILLONG: Several BJP leaders in Ranikor have resigned from the party to support the UDP candidate.
Pelcy Snaitang along with a host of BJP leaders from Ranikor constituency met UDP vice-president Allantry Franklin Dkhar on Monday and informed him about their resignation from BJP. They formally extended their support to the party that is fielding Pius Marwein in the by-poll.
Snaitang was a BJP candidate in the last Assembly election held in February.
The saffron party also lost two of its leaders in Garo Hills.
Premananda Koch, who was the district in-charge of BJP in South West Garo Hills, and Robert S Sangma, who contested as an independent candidate from Mahendraganj constituency, joined NPP on Saturday.
) Koch had also contested from Mahendraganj.
The new members were welcomed into the party by GHADC chief executive member Dipul R Marak and other party leaders at the party office in Betasing.
