Oil tanker catches fire in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: One oil tanker (AS 01EC 4066) was partially damaged when the front cabin of the truck caught fire on Wednesday around 1 am.
The truck was en route to Shillong from Guwahati when it suddenly caught fire on reaching Mawdiangum village in Ri Bhoi.
Nongpoh Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and managed to prevent the fire from spreading. A fire service spokesman informed that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as the driver and the handyman were not present when the incident took place.
Nongpoh Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
