Women deliver daughters in ambulance

SHILLONG: Two women gave birth in ambulance in different districts in the last two days.
On Tuesday around 8.21 pm, the doctor on duty from Khliehriat CHC, East Jaintia Hills, called 108 to refer a non-progressive labour case of Laitmon Lyngdoh (38).
The 108 ambulance team reached the woman’s house to shift her to Jowai CH. However, Lyngdoh ran into labour on the way. EMT Aklanson Majaw assisted in conducting safe and successful delivery of a baby girl in the ambulance.
In another case, a call was received from Puriang, East Khasi Hills, around 8.41 am on Wednesday for a pregnancy case to be shifted to hospital. The Mawrynkneng based 108 ambulance was dispatched to transfer the patient identified as Aitibha Mukhim (22) but en-route Puriang-Makajut road the patient went into labour and EMT Evanstar helped the woman in delivering a baby girl in the ambulance.
