SHILLONG: With the state still grappling with the growing menace of rape against minors, another case of an eight- year-old raped by a14-year-old boy has surfaced.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, the mother of the girl said, “She never told us anything. He had committed the crime thrice. He threatened to strangle her if she disclosed the crime to anyone.”
The girl is currently getting treatment at a government Hospital after she complained of stomach pain.
The rape incident finally came to light on Saturday, July 28 when a neighbour found the boy and the girl together when he was about to commit rape.
An FIR was lodged the very next day at Madanriting Police Station. The mother informed that the police had taken the girl’s statement on Tuesday.
Further, the victim’s mother alleged that the father of the accused had brushed aside the rape incident by saying that the boy had also raped his 11 year old relative who is currently staying with the family of the accused.
The mother said, “She (her daughter) would often go their house to watch TV as ours is not working.”
