SHILLONG: The delay in the release of fresh list of Assistant Public Prosecutors (APPs) and Public Prosecutors (PPs) has affected the disposal of criminal cases in lower courts.
Earlier, the list of APPs and PPs was approved for one year.
After the list expired on June 30, no fresh list of APPs and PPs was released by the Law Department.
Sources said in the absence of APPs and PPs, many criminal cases are not taken up by the lower courts in the state.
According to sources, some APPs and PPs are appearing in the court on the presumption that the fresh list will be issued soon.
