SHILLONG: A court case has delayed construction of the much awaited Tura medical college.
An official source said on Tuesday that after the work order was issued recently, a section of land owners filed a case in the High Court of Meghalaya that led to a temporary stay on the project work.
The source added that a few landowners had claimed that they were not compensated.
However, an official said the matter will be sorted out.
The Tura medical college with 100 seats will be constructed on 100 acres in Doldegre, 8 km from Tura.
While the total cost of the project is around Rs 500 crore, the Centre had sanctioned Rs 189 crore for implementing the first phase.
