HYC against appointment of retired officials in MTDC

SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) opposed the appointment of retired government servants to various posts in the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and took the matter to Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh.
Alleging irregularities in the MTDC’s appointment process, vice president and chairman of employment cell of HYC Rhembor Saibon told reporters that the minister assured that he would look into the matter.“Such appointment processes should be done away with as it deprives a number of deserving educated youths from getting employment in government offices,” he said.In a memorandum, HYC stated that PB Dutta, a retired employee in the office of the accountant general, has been appointed as GM (Personnel).
Other similar appointments include that of Bishnu Majumdar who worked as GM (Finance) after retiring from the office of accountant general.
A retired chef of Pinewood, RC Das is appointed as chief on contract basis and a retired manager accounts, Vivek Roy, has been appointed as consultant in MTDC on contract basis. Another retired employee, Lucas Sunar, has been appointed at Orchid Lake Resort Water Sports Complex.
