NONGPOH: The Ri Bhoi Dorbar, a conglomeration of frontal leaders of the district, will ask the government to declare ‘Ri Bhoi Day’ as district holiday and upgrade Patharkhmah administrative unit to civil sub-division.
In the special meeting held here on Friday, the Dorbar also discussed Ri Bhoi Day celebrations in October.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, former chief minister DD Lapang, who is the chief adviser to the body, said, “Besides these two main issues the Ri Bhoi Dorbar has also unanimously decided to demand the state government for the time being that the office of the Patharkhmah administrative unit should be set up at Patharkhmah for the benefit of local people in western Ri Bhoi as at present the administrative unit was handled at the office of the deputy commissioner.”
The Dorbar also met the deputy commissioner and handed over a memorandum requesting to initiate the matter with the state government.
