SHILLONG: The office of the District Sports Officer, Nongstoin will organise the ‘Mission Football Open West Khasi Hills District Tournament’ for boys and girls in August.
The tournament will be divided into the U-15 and U-18 categories for both boys and girls.
The matches will be held at different block centres in the district culminating at the district level tournament to be held on Spetember 14, 15 and 17 in Nongstoin and the state level tournament which will take place from September 23 to 29 in Shillong.
Entry forms will be available at the office of the block development officer. Forms must be filled up in block letters along with the full names of the participants.
Participants from Nongstoin can submit their forms at the office of the District Sports Officer. No forms will be accepted after the closing date.
Twenty players will be allowed to appear for screening examinations conducted by the Age Screening Committee after which only 18 players will be allowed to register themselves for the tournament.
Original birth certificates are to be produced during screening.
For the U-15 category, only participants born on or after January 1, 2004 will be allowed to take part while those born on or after January 1, 2001 will be allowed to take part in the U-18 category.
Teams comprising of five overage players will be automatically disqualified.
For Mairang Block, the last date for entries is August 23, screening will be held on August 24 at the Tirot Sing Memorial Hall in Pyndengumiong and matches will begin on August 25 at Dommawlum playground.
Last date for entries will be on August 24 for Mawshynrut Block. Screening will be held on August 27 at the Information Hall, B.D.O, Mawshynrut and matches will begin on August 27 at Riangdo playground.
For Mawthadraishan Block, last date for entries will be on August 24 followed by screening on August 27 at Domsohphlang playground. Matches will begin on August 28 at Domsohphlang playground.
For participants in Nongstoin Block, the last date for entries is August 24 followed by screening on August 28 and 29 at the Indoor Stadium in Nongstoin.
Matches are scheduled to begin from September 1 onwards at the New Nongstoon playground and the NDSA playground.
There will be no screening for the district level tournament in Nongstoin.
The competition dates will be September 14, 15 and 17 at the New Nongstoin playground and Tiehsaw playground.
